Undergraduate design teams from Dr. Durr’s course won three out of ten awards at the NIH DEBUT Challenge. This design competition recognizes undergraduate excellence in biomedical design and innovation. Entries were judged on significance of the problem being addresses, impact on potential users and clinical care, innovative design, and working prototype.
Kaleyedos won, among many other awards, the Grand Prize award at the 2017 Student Design Showcase at the Design of Medical Device Conference, and a $25k First Place prize at the Tulane business plan competition.
Treyetech won a $15k second place award at the TCU Business Plan Competition.
The Breast Cancer Biopsy team won a Clinton Global Initiative Grant.
